About sore throat - causes and symptoms

Sore throats most frequently arise as part of a common cold, and are caused by viruses and bacteria penetrating the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract (infection) and triggering a local inflammation. Usually with common colds the mucous membrane in the throat is inflamed (pharyngitis) and results therefore in a sore throat.

Sore throats may also occur as part of tonsillitis if the mucous membranes of the tonsils are inflamed, or as part of a laryngitis when the mucous membranes of the larynx are inflamed.

Typical progress of a cold

Even if there are different triggers for sore throats, sore throats are mostly a symptom of a common cold, which adults suffer from several times a year on average. Colds develop especially in winter when the immune system is weakened. But they may also be an issue in warm seasons if you are exposed to large fluctuations in temperature e.g. as a result of air-conditioning systems.

At the start of a cold, the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat dry out, and viruses and bacteria accumulate in an increased number. Usually the human body can keep these pathogens in check but if your immune system is weakened by a cold it cannot adequately defend itself against viruses or bacteria.

The result: the pathogens penetrate the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat area (infection), they can multiply and trigger inflammation.

These microbiological processes become apparent by the typical symptoms of a sore throat: first you have a dry throat, then it starts to scratch, becomes red and swollen, and then your throat becomes painful and you have difficulty swallowing.

Now neo-angin® is the ideal aid as neo-angin® helps in three ways: not only does it alleviate sore throats and inflammation, it also fights the bacteria that attack the mucous membranes and which, along with viruses, are the main cause of sore throats.

The special mode of action of neo-angin®
The TriActive formula

If a cold is on the way, it is frequently accompanied by a sore throat. This is caused by pathogens that penetrate the mucous membrane in the mouth and throat area (so-called infection) and trigger the inflammation which is associated with sore throats.

neo-angin® lozenges and neo-angin® throat spray contain the beneficial combination of the three active ingredients amylmetacresol, dichlorobenzyl alcohol and levomenthol and help with their proven TriActive fomula in three ways - they:

1. ease the pain
2. fight the infection
3. alleviate the inflammation

Bacteria, along with viruses are one of the primary causes of sore throats. If your body is weakened by a common cold, your immune system cannot defend itself adequately against these pathogens and they penetrate the mucous membranes of your mouth and throat (infection) and proliferate here. This is where the antiseptic effect of neo-angin® comes into play as amylmetacresol, dichlorobenzyl alcohol and levomenthol all inhibit the growth of bacteria and fight the bacteria that attack the mucous membranes and cause sore throats. Therefore neo-angin® contains three active ingredients that fight bacteria, as one of the primary causes of sore throats.

When pathogens attack the mucous membranes in the mouth and throat area as part of a cold, the body reacts with an inflammation and the typical symptoms of sore throats occur, such as scratchy throats, redness and swelling of the throat, along with difficulties swallowing.

All three active ingredients contained in neo-angin® – amylmetacresol, dichlorobenzyl alcohol and levomenthol – inhibit the inflammatory and pain mediators that are involved in the inflammation of the mouth and throat mucous membranes and the sore throat. This is how neo-angin® eases the pain and alleviates the inflammation.

In addition, the active ingredient levomenthol has a cooling effect and therefore contributes to soothing the sore throat.

Several studies have scientifically proven the efficacy of neo-angin®. They showed that the combination of amylmetacresol, dichlorobenzyl alcohol and levomenthol is particularly effective and accounts for the efficacy of neo-angin®. Not only do the three active ingredients fight the bacterial infection, they also alleviate the pain and inflammation and complement each other perfectly.

I often have important meetings and can't afford to cancel due to sore throat.
Good to know that I can rely on neo-angin® in these situations.
